Armed Forces Day 2026

The Jersey Armed Forces Day & Military Village 2026 is a free, inclusive public event hosted by the Jersey Joint Services Veterans Association. Its purpose is to honour, recognise and celebrate the Armed Forces Community, including serving personnel, veterans, reservists, cadets and their families.

Taking place in central St Helier, the event begins with a military parade forming in Royal Square. The parade will march through the town centre, featuring serving personnel, veterans, cadet units, military vehicles and riders. The Lieutenant Governor will take the salute before the parade reaches the Weighbridge, where the Military Village will be officially opened by the Bailiff, followed by a live performance of the National Anthem.

Throughout the day, visitors can enjoy a full programme of activities, including:

  • Military music and a Beating Retreat by the Band of the Island of Jersey
  • Performances by local artists
  • Cadet drill and command task competitions involving all service branches

A major highlight of the afternoon will be a mine‑clearing demonstration by Jersey Field Squadron RE (V), showcasing modern military skills and operational capability.

The Military Village will feature Armed Forces charities, veterans’ organisations, community groups, and a variety of food and drink vendors. Families can enjoy a dedicated children’s area with activities such as face painting and bouncy castles.

The formal programme concludes with a flag‑lowering ceremony accompanied by a piper, offering a respectful tribute to those who serve and have served. The day ends with an informal veterans’ reception, reinforcing the event’s purpose as a meaningful community thank‑you to the Armed Forces.
