Christmas Light Switch On traffic impact
There will be a number of different road closures in place from Thursday 13 November to Saturday 15 November for the Christmas Light Switch On and Battle of Flowers Christmas Parade.
We advise everyone to consider how they travel on these dates to help ease the pressure on the traffic through town. Consider taking the bus or sharing lifts.
Thursday 13 November – Tiny Tots Switch On
The Tiny Tots Switch On will take place from 4pm to 6.30pm in Parade Gardens, with a Christmas Village around the Cenotaph. For more details on the event, please click here. Road closures will be in place from 4pm to 7.30pm.

Friday 14 November – Sensory Friendly Switch On
The sensory-friendly session starts at 3.45pm and finishes at 4.45pm in Parade Gardens, with a Christmas Village around the Cenotaph. There will be a drop-off/ pick-up zone operating on the Parade Eastern arm (Parade Pub side) until 5pm. For more details on the event, please click here.

Friday 14 November – Main Christmas Light Switch On and Parade
From 5pm, the main Christmas Light Switch On event will begin at Parade Gardens and West’s Centre. The Eastern Arm of Parade Gardens will close from 5:30pm and you will not be able to access Parade from Union Street. Please be advised that congestion will be expected around Minden Place from 6pm to 8pm as the Christmas Parade passes through. For more information on the event, please click here.

Saturday 15 November – Battle of Flowers Christmas Parade
The Christmas Village will be open from 1pm with live entertainment, food, drink, and stalls. The Christmas Parade will begin at 6pm with road closures in force from 4pm to 9pm. For more details on the event, please click here.
