South Hill playground to close ahead of major improvements
South Hill Children’s Playground, next to the former States of Jersey Planning Offices site, will close from 7 September 2026 to allow construction of the Westward residential development and the regeneration of the playground to begin.
Site hoarding will be installed around the playground and development site to keep children, families and other members of the public safe while the work is underway.
Although the playground will be unavailable during construction, the long-term result will be a significantly improved facility for the community.
As part of the Westward development, Jersey Development Company will replace the existing playground with a larger, modern and fully inclusive play area.
The new playground is expected to open in the summer of 2029 and will provide a much-improved community space for this part of St Helier.
We recognise that the temporary closure will inconvenience families and apologise for the disruption. Further details about the new playground, including its design and facilities, will be shared as the project progresses.
