St Helier wins Coastal category at Britain in Bloom Competition
The Parish of St Helier has won the Coastal category at this year’s RHS Britain in Bloom Competition and has also taken home a Gold Award.
Britain in Bloom is a nationwide gardening competition which aims to inspire community groups in towns, cities and villages to make positive changes to their local environment through horticulture, environmental and community action.
The Parish has spent months preparing for the national Competition, creating a portfolio focusing on the key areas of assessment: horticulture, the environment, and community engagement. The portfolio is available to view here.
RHS judges visited St Helier in August, undertaking a tour of the Parish that included the Jersey Hospice Gardens, the GROW Project, the Surville allotments and the Town Centre.
The Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, said “The Britain in Bloom Competition is an incredible opportunity for the Parish of St Helier to be recognised at a national level. I am delighted that the Parish has won its category in the Competition, recognising the hard work of all the teams and community groups who keep St Helier blooming, as well as the Parish’s environmental contributions to the Island. I hope you will take the time to explore our portfolio and see all the wonderful things happening in the Parish that have earned us this Award.”
