Parish agrees to lift Requête to allow New Hospital Project to proceed
Parishioners received a presentation from the New Healthcare Facilities Team and asked questions on the proposals.
At a Parish Assembly on Wednesday 2nd October 2024 parishioners voted to lift the Requête agreed on 1st February 2021 that stopped any works relating to the New Hospital taking place on Parish land.
The Constable of St Helier, Simon Crowcroft, said: “I am pleased that parishioners voted to lift the Requête that had been in place since February 2021. It was pleasing that parishioners have been listened to and their concerns resolved, especially concerning the major changes to Westmount Road and the adverse impact on People’s Park that were part of the previous plans. Hopefully, we are one step closer to an improved Health Care facility for the Island, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank those who exercised their democratic right in both bringing the Requête in 2021 and voting to lift it on Wednesday evening.”
